  • The Port is an established area zoned for industrial use.

  • The Deep Water Harbour is currently under utilized and it is one of a limited number of deep water ports around the UK.

  • The site is close to electricity connection.

  • The local infrastructure is well developed.
  • Availability of local workforce, suppliers and service contractors.

  • Associated British Ports (owners of the Port Talbot Docks) are keen to invest further in Port Talbot to grow the business throughout the port. The operation of the Plant will result in the import of an additional 2.5-3 million tonnes of cargo annually in the form of wood chip fuel. In comparison, 8 million tonnes of cargo was imported during 2005.

  • The development of the Renewable Energy Plant will also utilise land which has remained idle for several years. This will promote regeneration, redevelopment and inward investment and provide confidence to other potential tenants as to the long term future of the Harbour.
